Na indústria de couro, o ácido fórmico é usado no processo de tingimento, limpeza, eliminação de fungos e como auxiliar no processo de curtimento.</div><div><br></div><div>Armazenagem em silos - O ácido fórmico é utilizado como conservante na armazenagem de alimentos e rações verdes.</div><div><br></div><div>Limpeza e desinfecção - O ácido fórmico é usado como um aditivo em produtos comerciais de limpeza como: removedores de ferrugem, limpadores multiuso, desengraxantes e produtos de lavanderia profissional. Além disso, é utilizado na desinfecção de barris de madeira para vinho e cerveja, graças às suas propriedades bactericidas.</div><div><br></div><div>Dessulfurização de gás combustível - Outra aplicação do ácido fórmico é no controle de pH do processo Saarberg-Hoelter-Umwelttecnik (SHU) de dessulfurização de gás combustível. A maioria dos combustíveis fósseis contém enxofre que, quando queimado, libera no ar o dióxido de enxofre. O processo SHU consiste em capturar esse enxofre pela passagem do gás combustível, através de uma suspensão de pedra calcaria contendo o ácido fórmico. O dióxido de enxofre reage com a pedra calcaria, formando gesso (sulfato de cálcio).</div><div><br></div><div>Coagulação da borracha - Um dos usos tradicionais do ácido fórmico é na coagulação da borracha natural, que é produzida principalmente no sudeste da Ásia. O leite de látex é extraído de seringueiras e misturado ao ácido fórmico, para produzir a borracha coagulada (que é depois processada em pneus e vários outros produtos de
